Bio
After many years living and working all over the world, Aileen returned to Ireland in 2023 and now lives and works in Dublin.
She received her BFA from Southbank University, London and took part in the Turps Correspondence Course programme 2022/23. Aileen has participated in several group shows in London and has had two solo shows: Elemental – at Palm Tree Gallery, London (now closed) and Transistor Dreams – at No8 Gallery, Kildare part of Culture Night 2023. She has shown her work with the London based collectives Kindred Studios and ArtCan. Aileen is part of ArtNetdlr the Dublin based artist network and showed work in their group group show Interdependent at Walters, Dun Laoghaire.
Aileen works across a variety of media including, painting, drawing, stitch and clay. She creates graphic colour driven works that hover between 2D and 3D. This ‘somewhere in between’ is a way of exploring and incorporating the traditions of abstraction and craft. These often densely layered works convey a forensic quality, the fragmented colour drawing you closer, inviting you to piece together the narrative.
