Uplifting Soul Series… drawing with a blade

My work is informed by my immediate surroundings, the colours, shapes and forms I see as I go about my day.

I’ve been photographing the city streets for years, amassing images of the colours I encounter and the spray paint markings that form the lexicon of what lies beneath our feet, the language of the utilities that keep us running. These shapes and the colour interventions of urban life inform this body of work.

A few years ago I took them into the studio and started incorporating them in my work, drawing with my blade extracting and re-appropriating as I go… a joyous collision of shape and colour… open to interpretation…
